Just a few questions:

Have you been feeling strong emotions that you don’t know how to handle?
Have you felt a sense of sadness or hopelessness that doesn’t seem to end?
Are there past events that you haven’t dealt with yet?
Are you concerned about how your child is behaving?
Has your child been struggling with any of the items listed above?
Are you struggling with how to connect with your child?

If you answered “yes” to any of those questions, take a breath and know you’re not alone. It’s okay to not be okay, to not have all the answers. We’ve all been there. You have already taken the first step by searching for help, and I’m so glad you did! While some days may feel like mountains, we will climb them together. The view will be worth it; all you need to do is take the next step with me.

More About Your Therapist:

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I specialize in working with adolescents who present with anxiety, depression, defiant behavior, trauma, and other school-related issues. Most of my experience stems from working closely with pre-teens and teens who present with a variety of concerns such as sexual/gender identity, substance use, self-esteem, grief, divorced/separated parents, self-harm, suicidal ideations, among other issues. Adolescence is a unique and somewhat challenging time for both the teen and their families. In my counseling career, I have had the honor to help teens and families successfully navigate through this stage.

I also specialize in working with adults who present with anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. Most of my experience stems from working closely with adults who experience a variety of concerns such as identity, cultural concerns, relational difficulties, loss, suicidal ideations, life transitions, among other struggles.

I hope you will quickly feel the support I am able to provide by creating a genuine, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment. My goal is to develop a safe space and meet you where you are at by building our therapeutic relationship, allowing you to navigate this journey called life. I truly believe that you do not need advice, simply the confidence to find solutions that allow you to thrive. I think growth happens through feeling heard, supported, understood, and at times, challenged. Additionally, I practice from a culturally responsive, trauma informed, person-centered approach, while incorporating solution-focused strategies, cognitive behavioral techniques, expressive arts, and other supports based on your personal needs.

On a personal note...

I am an army brat and had the privilege of living in many states and countries before settling down in Texas. I quickly found a love for the Dallas Mavericks; in fact, I have a beautiful little boy, named Maverick! I taught middle school English Language Arts and Reading for 6 years and currently work full time as a middle school counselor in a title I school district. I am extremely passionate about the students and families I serve. I’ve always felt a sense of comfort in my ability to help others through their worst days. It is my biggest joy to join in celebrating the moments when growth occurs. When I’m not working, I love traveling and immersing myself in new places and cultures. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, trying new restaurants, experimenting with cooking, hiking, and reading all things fiction.

If you are reading this, I hope you feel you know me a little better, and I hope you also feel confident in my ability to help on you or your child on this journey. I cannot promise that it will always be easy along the way, but I promise if you stick with me, it’ll be worth it!
